Saturn of Honolulu, Honolulu  HI                                               Nov 1997 – Mar 2007

General Manager/VP

This store was part of the Lucas Dealership Group until June 1998. I was assigned to Saturn of Honolulu by the LDG to re-staff the store and get it back on track. In June 1998 the LDG Saturn stores were sold to The Saturn Retail Enterprises (owned and operated by Saturn Corp.). In April 2004 Saturn Corp sold the store to a General Motors Minority Dealer Development Candidate. Saturn arranged a partnership between the Candidate (principal) and myself. This purchase was funded by GM Motors Holding. This store has been on the GM-Saturn Gold List (top 50 in the nation) for new car sales and CSI for the last several years.

Corp VP, GM & GSM

The Lucas Dealership Group does not exist today. The Lucas Family retired after selling their six (6) Saturn stores to (SRE) in 1998 plus the Honda, Mercedes, BMW and Cadillac stores (to Sonic) in 1999.

LDG recruited me out of Southern California late in 1982 to GSM their Honda store in Kaneohe, Hawaii. In 1984 I transferred to San Jose, CA as GM of their newly acquired Mitsubishi store. I then moved within the Lucas Group to open their newly acquired St. Claire Cadillac dealership. (GSM).

I later entered their Group Headquarters as VP of Sales Ops to facilitate their hiring & training processes.  I returned to St. Claire Cadillac as Gm/VP in 1995  and finally returned to Hawaii in 1997.

Additional Experience

During my “Lucas” years, there were a couple of gaps where I had to leave the company.

The first gap was in 1988 when I responded to a recruitment effort by The Tony Management Group of Honolulu to GSM their GMC/Olds store and later went on to their Corporate Office as Director of Sales in California (Honda & Acura) and the Hawaii stores (Honda, GMC-Olds).

The second gap 1993-1995 was due to “Parental Care” needed for my ailing Mother in Orange County, CA. During this period I was the GM for The Tony Group’s Acura store in Orange County for one year. I then moved to the Kuni Group’s South Bay Cadillac store in San Jose, CA as their GSM.
